IS-3 Heavy Tank

The IS-3 is an impressive brick-built model of the iconic Soviet heavy tank, designed for demanding collectors, military enthusiasts, and fans of historical vehicles. The set contains 1,421 pieces, while the completed model measures approximately 375 × 135 × 160 mm, giving it a commanding presence on display.

The model carefully recreates the distinctive features of the IS-3, including its streamlined turret, characteristic frontal armor, long main gun, tracks, road wheels, and numerous exterior details.

A major highlight is the detailed internal construction. Opening the relevant sections reveals a detailed ammunition compartment, a recreated tank engine, and other internal components. The loader's hatch can also be opened, while additional access hatches allow parts of the interior to be viewed.

The model features a rotating turret and vertically adjustable main gun, allowing different display positions. Carefully designed tracks, road wheels, and suspension further enhance the massive appearance of the finished vehicle.

The set is part of the Premium Brick Collector series and includes a dedicated parts storage box with four internal trays, making it easier to organize components during assembly.

The IS-3 was a Soviet heavy tank developed near the end of World War II as a successor to the IS-2. It retained the powerful 122 mm D-25T gun, while introducing a radically revised armor layout.

Its most recognizable feature was the so-called “pike nose”, formed by sharply angled frontal armor plates. The tank also featured a low-profile, rounded turret that became one of the defining characteristics of the IS-3.

The first prototypes underwent testing in 1944, but the trials revealed problems including issues with the engine and transmission. The design was subsequently revised, with series production beginning toward the end of the war.

The IS-3 attracted considerable attention after the war. Its modern-looking silhouette and heavy armor made it one of the most recognizable symbols of the evolution of Soviet heavy tanks in the post-war period.
