About this set
ISU-152 is a premium brick-built military set inspired by one of the most powerful Soviet self-propelled guns of the Second World War. With 1,305 pieces, a large-scale design, and extensive functional details, this set combines historical character with an advanced building experience designed for collectors and experienced builders.
The construction faithfully captures the imposing appearance of the original vehicle, including its heavily armoured casemate, large tracks, long 152 mm gun, external fuel tanks, rear equipment, and detailed running gear. The monochromatic finish emphasizes the massive silhouette and gives the completed set a distinctive display presence.
A major feature of the set is its detailed internal construction. Several upper sections can be opened or removed, revealing the gun breech, ammunition storage, engine compartment, and internal structural elements. These features make the build interesting not only as a finished display piece, but also as a detailed mechanical construction to explore.
The main gun can be elevated, while the roof-mounted machine gun can rotate and change elevation. Additional opening hatches provide access to different sections of the vehicle. The detailed tracks, wheels, suspension components, ammunition, and engine further enhance the realism of the finished set.
Measuring approximately 34.5 × 12.5 × 11 cm, the ISU-152 offers a substantial presence while remaining practical for display. It is an excellent choice for collectors of military brick sets and for builders looking for a historically recognizable vehicle with a high level of detail.
Historical background
The ISU-152 was a Soviet heavy self-propelled gun developed during the Second World War. It was based on the chassis of the IS heavy tank and was designed to provide heavily armoured units with a powerful mobile weapon capable of supporting infantry and armoured formations.
The vehicle was armed with the 152 mm ML-20S gun-howitzer, one of the largest weapons mounted on a Soviet armoured vehicle during the war. Its enormous projectile gave the ISU-152 considerable destructive power against fortifications, buildings, field positions, and other heavily protected targets.
The ISU-152 also proved capable of engaging German armoured vehicles. Its large-calibre gun could cause severe damage even when it was not used in the same way as a conventional dedicated anti-tank gun. German heavy tanks were therefore among the targets the vehicle was expected to engage when the tactical situation required it.
Unlike a conventional tank, the ISU-152 used a fixed casemate superstructure rather than a fully rotating turret. This simplified the design and provided space for the large weapon and its ammunition, although it also limited the gun's horizontal traverse. The vehicle's heavy armour and tracked chassis allowed it to accompany armoured formations while providing powerful direct and indirect fire support.
Production began in 1943, and the ISU-152 remained in Soviet service after the end of the Second World War. Its combination of heavy armour, large-calibre armament, and versatility made it one of the most recognizable Soviet self-propelled guns of the conflict.
Today, the ISU-152 remains a particularly interesting subject for military historians and collectors because it represents the Soviet approach to combining a heavy tank chassis with an exceptionally powerful artillery weapon in a single tracked fighting vehicle.
